The 2010 Season is kicking off THIS WEEKEND with the first 3 Man event of the Spring Series!

Last year 3 Man teams throughout the Southeast stepped into the competitive ring of the CFOA series for the first time. Many newcomers in the D6 division surprised fans and players as they quickly improved between events, moving up the rankings as the season progressed. We're looking forward to 2010 and the new teams that will step up their game throughout the season, much like last years champions, Wolf Pack and HSK Gold.

As a reminder, all D6 teams from 2009 have been promoted to D5 ranking for 2010. Each team has proven that you have the skill to play at a higher level. Congratulations and we look forward to seeing each of you at this Saturday's 3 Man kickoff event!

New U.S. Army Paintball Marker - Carver One

Tippmann is pleased to introduce the new U.S. Army Paintball Carver One – a new .68 caliber paintball marker made by Tippmann that will cost the consumer less than $100.

Carver One is the latest addition to the extremely popular and rapidly growing U.S. Army Paintball line. The new marker incorporates an array of eye catching and performance-enhancing features, including four Picatinny rails for easily adding scopes or handles, a built-in foregrip, built-in sling mounts and built-in sights. It’s really rather sleek-looking, and for the price you're going to be asking for it, I think this will do EXACTLY what you want it to—introduce players to the MILSIM line of play. It'll be a great introductory marker, I'm certain.

CFOA 2010 Player Identification

Nobody enjoys standing in line on the morning of an event when you could be filling pods, walking the fields or discussing game strategy. Unfortunately, a lot of players wait until the morning of the event to purchase their player ID. Make it easier and cheaper for yourself by purchasing your CFOA Player ID online for only $30!

If you purchase your ID online and upload your picture by Wednesday prior to the event, we'll have it ready for you when you arrive. Avoid the long lines and save money, wouldn't you like that?!

Otherwise, ID's can be purchased at the event, but you will have to wait in line and it could cost you up to $15 more, $10 more for the ID and a $5 picture fee. Prizes will be awarded by the number of teams in a division. Therefore divisions that are more competitive and have more teams will receive a larger prize package. A lot of thought went in to creating this new prize structure with a goal of rewarding the teams who battle through the larger divisions, while still providing teams an incentive to move up.

The prize amounts listed are an estimate of what to expect based on the same number of teams we had in Huntington Beach last year. Prize amounts this year will vary depending on the number of teams signed up in each division.

It is my duty to report that I am discontinuing the Hurricane pro team. And even though this team has been, and remains, my pride and joy, I report this without remorse. Quite the opposite, really, but I’ll get to that.

The sponsorship game isn’t what it used to be, and the Hurricanes, bereft of a store or field or other ‘inside’ angle, were not able to attract the sponsorship we needed to be a competitive team again. And that started me down the road that led to my decision. It wasn’t all about money, though. In fact, it was more about the long term direction of the team. The Hurricanes were built on the model for pro teams circa 2004, and that model is outdated and likely unsupportable (if not already, then in the near future). Even if I put together the money for 2010, the team would be in the exact same position the next year. We lack the means to control our destiny. Further thought and consideration led me to the realization that the Hurricanes could not be reformed to look like the newer model for pro teams. And once I realized that, I realized that we were like a raft in the ocean – we had no direction and no real hope of getting anywhere. We could just, at best, hopefully keep ourselves from drowning.

And don’t kid yourselves, even if we returned to our 2008 form and started hitting top 4’s, our unsustainability would have remained (and I do believe that we would have come back much stronger, and a potential top 4 team).
So, short and sweet (and so utterly unlike me). PbNation has been gracious enough to allow me to keep the forum open for a bit. And I think if you come back here on Xmas morning, there may be some surprises for you, things that will explain why I am excited and hopefully will get fans of the team excited as well (although, if you need good news from me on Xmas morning to get excited, you probably need to seek professional help).

Paintball Athletes, Fans, Sponsors and Supporters;

The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) has gone through many changes over the past 18 years. We’ve seen this sport come out of the woods, into public arenas where thousands of fans can cheer on their favorite team. 2010 will mark another year of change. With a new company ran by teams and players, the NPPL will once again strive to be a leader in the Sport of Paintball.

Here are some of the new changes to look forward to in the 2010 NPPL Super 7 World Series:

Veteran player and major paintball industry icon Tom Cole, has signed on to be NPPL Ultimate at every event for 2010. Widely respected by players of all levels, Tom’s wealth of knowledge and paintball experience will be a great asset to the league. He is also running the Ultimate Woodsball League (UWL) and travels the world representing Kingman. Tom will be working closely with Dan Perez and the NPPL Rules Committee to ensure incredible reffing this season.

The NPPL Super 7 Rules Committee will be addressing and making changes to several rules such as the illegal marker penalties and will be considering the use of .50 caliber paintballs. Furthermore, the committee is addressing the color of Paintballs and the staining characteristics that paintballs leave on tents, chairs, equipment and public property. The Rules Committee will be contacting and working with manufacturers to address these issues. You will be receiving updates from the committee through our mailing list and website. The league will be evaluating new divisions, game schedules, prize purses and over-all event management to continuously raise the level of event quality and create a positive experience for players, teams, sponsors and spectators alike.

The NPPL Super 7 World Series will be hosting Live Webcasts of the Huntington Beach and Vegas events. These state of the art Webcasts will once again bring the world of NPPL Super 7 Paintball events, athletes and sponsors to thousands of online viewers from around the world.

Several committees have also been formed to address different aspects of our sport such as Marketing, Sponsorships, Promotions, Licensing, Membership services, etc… If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to us. We are scheduling a sponsors conference call in the next two weeks. If you’re a sponsor, please contact us for more information.

The NPPL Super 7 is also looking to add new Professional Teams to the 2010 season. This will be exciting as we continue to grow our professional athlete base and expand the reach of tournament paintball across the nation.

The league will also be adding an incredible Feeder League system that will prepare teams for the National competitions and spotlight. We are looking to award points for teams competing in Sanctioned NPPL Feeder events and will release more details this January. We are also working on a program where we can share ID Cards from Sanctioned Feeder Series.

2010 NPPL Super 7 World Series

Paintball Athletes, Fans, Sponsors and Supporters;

The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) has gone through many changes over the past 18 years. We've seen this sport come out of the woods, into public arenas where thousands of fans can cheer on their favorite team. 2010 will mark another year of change. With a new company ran by teams and players, the NPPL will once again strive to be a leader in the Sport of Paintball.

Here are some of the new changes to look forward to in the 2010 NPPL Super 7 World Series:

Veteran player and major paintball industry icon Tom Cole, has signed on to be NPPL Ultimate at every event for 2010. Widely respected by players of all levels, Tom's wealth of knowledge and paintball experience will be a great asset to the league. He is also running the Ultimate Woodsball League (UWL) and travels the world representing Kingman. Tom will be working closely with Dan Perez and the NPPL Rules Committee to ensure incredible reffing this season.

The NPPL Super 7 Rules Committee will be addressing and making changes to several rules such as the illegal marker penalties and will be considering the use of .50 caliber paintballs. Furthermore, the committee is addressing the color of Paintballs and the staining characteristics that paintballs leave on tents, chairs, equipment and public property. The Rules Committee will be contacting and working with manufacturers to address these issues. You will be receiving updates from the committee through our mailing list and website. The league will be evaluating new divisions, game schedules, prize purses and over-all event management to continuously raise the level of event quality and create a positive experience for players, teams, sponsors and spectators alike.

The NPPL Super 7 World Series will be hosting Live Webcasts of the Huntington Beach and Vegas events. These state of the art Webcasts will once again bring the world of NPPL Super 7 Paintball events, athletes and sponsors to thousands of online viewers from around the world.

Several committees have also been formed to address different aspects of our sport such as Marketing, Sponsorships, Promotions, Licensing, Membership services, etc... The NPPL Super 7 is also looking to add new Professional Teams to the 2010 season. This will be exciting as we continue to grow our professional athlete base and expand the reach of tournament paintball across the nation.

We are looking to award points for teams competing in Sanctioned NPPL Feeder events and will release more details this January. We are also working on a program where we can share ID Cards from Sanctioned Feeder Series.

The NPPL Super 7 World Series will be returning to Chicago, Illinois Memorial Day Weekend! What's even better is that this event will be held in conjunction with one of the greatest Scenario Big Games in Paintball - Living Legends at CPX Sports. To run fluidly along with the Living Legends event, and to make the most of the holiday weekend, the NPPL Super 7 event will take place on Saturday and Sunday with all final games being played on Monday, Memorial Day. This is a change from the traditional Friday through Sunday format, but we know that students will appreciate not having to miss School to compete in this event! The Yakuza Series USB board for the Ego 9 and Ego 10 includes a graphical OLED based display system and full USB support. Unlike any other aftermarket Ego board, it features both an optical sensor and microswitch for the trigger, which the user can select from within the menu system. A mini-B USB port is built right into the board, allowing you to plug it into a computer running Windows 7, Vista, or XP, so you can utilize the Tengu USB interface. Tengu offers the ability to do secure firmware updates from the comfort of your home or office, create custom boot screen images, and modify settings. Boot screens can be imported and exported as bitmap image files, allowing you to create them in image editing software like Photoshop and easily share them with friends or teammates. Settings profiles are treated in a similar fashion, and can be read off your board, saved to a file, and loaded back into any of your board's profiles or active settings.

OLED (organic light emitting diode) displays have numerous advantages over traditional LCDs. They have lower power consumption, higher contrast, and, due to the manufacturing process, are sealed, making them highly resistant to vibration and moisture. Unlike LCDs, each pixel of an OLED screen is a light emitting diode and emits its own light. Power consumption is directly proportional to how many pixels are lit, making it easy to view, even in direct sunlight.

All the necessary information is shown on the OLED screen, including eye status, battery life, current fire mode and max rate of fire, and a game timer. The settings are also easily adjusted through the full text-based menu system.

The Yakuza Series USB boards offer many enhanced capabilities. A new, faster microcontroller runs at up to 48 Mhz, and provides integrated USB 2.0 support with standard off-the-shelf mini-B USB cables. The drivers are built into Windows, making installation very easy. The asynchronous interrupt-based trigger scan is monitored at up to 12 million times per second. Additional adjustibility includes finer, more accurate rate of fire, debounce, and dwell increments, plus specific PSP/Millennium fire mode parameters to change the semi-start shots and semi-reset times. 5 customizable user profiles are now standard, and can be edited through the OLED screen or with the Tengu USB interface on your computer. The rate of fire range has been expanded to 5-30 balls per second to ensure compliance with any future changes to league rules.

Included is Tadao's industry first anti-breech bounce software, which helps to eliminate chops when a loader is running low on paint and can't provide a steady feed rate. A dedicated transmitter socket and wiring harness provide RF support.

This Yakuza Series USB board is designed for the Eclipse E2 electronic Autococker frames. It will also work in the E1 and Worrblade frames, but with reduced screen visibility. Specific to the operation of an autococker, a host of new settings provides adjustment of the entire firing cycle, support for reflective and break-beam eyes, and a unique eye sensitivity setting that shows the reflective sensor digital values in real time so you can easily set the sensitivity for the bolt in your Autococker.
