2010 Surf City Open Team List NPPL

Breaking News Update: Huntington Beach Team List is Up.  Remaining Spots Filling Up Quickly.

The NPPL has released the current team list for the upcoming Huntington Beach event, which can be viewed right now on NPPL.com. Registration has only been open for one week but already more than 70 teams have signed up for HB 2010, which is shaping up to be the most publicized and most watched tournament in NPPL history.

The Huntington Beach Surf City Open will take place during the height of Spring Break and is moving to the South side of the pier, where there will be enough room for a total of three fields.  This will require that a cap of 120 teams be set for the event, so the NPPL is strongly encouraging that any non-registered teams sign-up immediately to reserve their spot as the tournament is looking to sell out in record time.

The new NPPL team registration system makes signing up for any upcoming event a quick experience.  Simply fill out all required information and click submit.  Several different payment options are also available including credit card, PayPal, e-check, or you can send a check or money order directly to the NPPL office in Huntington Beach.

This team list utility is only a sneak peek of our new groundbreaking registration and ID system. Stay tuned for more news on the roll-out of many new smart and exciting features!

CFOA 2010 Entry Fees include Paintballs

Once again the industry's premiere paintball manufacturers have stepped up to show their continued support for the CFOA, its players and teams.  The CFOA, with the support of Procaps and Kee Action Sports, has strived throughout the off-season to find a way to reduce the cost of competition that all teams face.  After much deliberation, the CFOA is pleased to present its own stimulus plan for the 2010 season.  This plan accomplishes the ultimate goal of reducing the cost of competition for players and teams.

New for the 2010 season, entrance fees for the RaceTo-2 and RaceTo-X events will include an allotment of paint from the league sponsors.  Understanding that paint is an important variable in competing, the league has worked it out so that with registration, each team will receive equal amounts of DXS Bronze and RPS Premium paintballs.  Although paint consumption may vary, each team should receive enough paint to see them through their prelim matches with their team's event registration.  If a team wishes to upgrade to a higher grade of paint, that option will be available.

The CFOA's goal for 2010 was to reduce the cost per player to play an event.  Feedback from the post-season survey showed that a team's cost in paint was an uncontrollable variable and made it difficult to budget the cost per event for their players.  Teams now have the ultimate control over the cost per player by increasing or decreasing the size of their team roster.

The CFOA understands that some teams may have sponsorships connected to their paint consumption and has taken this factor into consideration.  The CFOA has addressed this issue with both Procaps and Kee Action Sports and will be able to track a team's event paint consumption.  This information will then be reported back to the manufacturer so proper credit can be applied to the sponsor's account.  If this is an area of concern for your team, please contact larry@thecfoa.com.

2010 RaceTo-2
D3 Entry Fee will be $640 and will include 8 cases of paint
D4 Entry Fee will be $640 and will include 8 cases of paint
D5 Entry Fee will be $640 and will include 8 cases of paint

2010 RaceTo-X
D2 Entry Fee will be $1500 and will include 14 cases of paint
D3 Entry Fee will be $1500 and will include 14 cases of paint
D4 Entry Fee will be $1500 and will include 14 cases of paint

Tom Kaye is innovating Again! Miniature HPA Personal Compressor

imagine having that and being able to fill your tanks whenever you wanted at home.

you would need a shop compressor like a 85psi one not even a 200psi model, and this would boost up the pressure to either 3000psi or 4500psi in like 4 hours for a 68 cubic inch tank. (the shop compressor wont run for 4 hours it will only kick on when it gets below 85 psi, if you have a 200 psi model with a large enough tank that probably wont even happen)

Tom Kaye > chuck norris.

From Tom Himself

Q: How fast will it fill a tank?
A: It will fill a 68 cubic inch tank in about 4 hours to 4500 psi.

Q: I hear it needs another compressor?
A: Yes, it needs an 85 psi input from a shop compressor for maximum fill rate. If you don’t use a shop compressor it will take 6 times longer to fill a tank.

Q: What shop compressor can I use?
A: Almost ANY shop compressor that puts out at least 85 psi at 1 CFM or more will work fine. The mini-compressor takes very little air and a shop compressor will only kick on a few times. Small shop compressors are so cheap it didn’t make sense to try and build one into the mini-compressor.

Q: How many CFM does the mini-compressor use when pumping?
A: It takes about 0.04 CFM which is nothing.

Q: Can I use a compressed air tank instead of a shop compressor?
A: Yes you can. Some thing like a portable air tank for filling tires should work but it needs to be big enough to maintain some type of pressure during the 4 hour fill time.

Q: Can I fill a scuba tank?
A: Yes but you have to provide a fill hose and attachment fittings. I estimate it will fill an 80 cubic foot scuba tank to 3000 psi in about 24 hours.

Q: Can I use a low pressure scuba with a regulated output to 85 psi to feed the mini-compressor?
A: Yes but we don’t recommend it because a high pressure regulator is more expensive than a small shop compressor that can be bought new for 80 bucks.

Q: How much noise does it make?
A: Not that much but its not completely silent. Its less noisy than your mothers sewing machine.

Q: Does it turn off by itself?
A: Yes but the pressure is preset at the factory. You have to buy either the 4500 or 3000 psi model.

Q: What else do I need to get to make it work?
A: To keep the cost down we only supply a stainless nipple output from the compressor. This is the same nipple you find on your paintball markers tank. You need to get a hose to connect what ever type of tank you have, scuba, paintball, pellet gun, to the compressor.

Q: What size is it?
A: Its about 16” wide, 12” deep and 6 ½ inches tall. The picture on Facebook shows a pencil for scale in front of the compressor.

Q: When will it be available?
A: We are making the pre-production prototypes now and hope to have the first run out within two months.

Q: Is there any water or particle filtration on the mini-compressor?
A: No there is not to keep costs down. You can put a water trap between the shop compressor and the mini-compressor if that’s a concern.

Q: How much electricity will it take?
A: It will cost less than 5 cents an hour to run the compressor.

Hater Vici Platform

What is VICI?
VICI is the new Electronic Platform developed by HATER.

VICI = GUN + LOADER + PC SOFTWARE.

WHY VICI?

The VICI Electronic Platform was built with EXPANDABILITY in mind. Because every VICI hardware component comes integrated with a wireless transceiver and a USB cable, software updates, interactive application upgrades, and other advanced features can be installed on the fly.

PRICE

Competitors charges around $190 for their board. Add-on RF functionality costs an additional $50. Add a USB adapter for $15 and a USB cable for around $5. The customer spends $100 more on a Virtue product to get functionality that is included for free in VICI gun boards.

POWER TO THE PLATFORM!

The VICI Electronic Platform is the first of its kind. “Boards” are a thing of the past; the VICI Platform allows communication between your paintball devices and the electronics you use daily.

SERIOUS WIRELESS CAPABILITIES

True two-way communication between the gun and loader. The loader transmits information to the gun and the gun talks back to the loader. What good is it if the loader knows the gun fired without knowing the gun’s set ROF, firing mode, and bolt delay related settings?

Patented wireless communication platform.

Communicates with any Empire 2.4 GHz transceiver, Empire LTD, Empire Prophecy, or Empire Magna.

No more add-on transceivers. All wireless components are fully integrated in the board itself.

Ability to sync with multiple devices. Want to use two loaders with the same VICI gun board? No problem. Compare to Virtue’s factory programmed RF add-on that can only communicate with one other device.

Easy to sync.

Won’t interfere with other devices.

Oh yeah, long-range hardware capability right outta the box.

PC SOFTWARE

While competitors offer downloadable firmware updates, they don’t allow for full-fledged communication and analysis between PC and board. Virtue products, for example, use decades old COM interfaces.

Instantaneously displays the user with the most up-to-date manuals.

Compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.

SAFETY AND PEACE OF MIND

VICI is the only system that fully licenses applicable patents and trade-secrets. When purchasing a VICI product, the customer need not worry about the availability of future product support because of infringement issues.

Further, the VICI platform is the only wireless paintball product that is fully FCC (US), IC (Canada) and CE (Europe) approved and has a genuine USB license. Other producers transfer the risk of using an uncertified or unlicensed device to the consumer.

EASE OF USE

The user does not have to memorize the meanings of various color blinking lights or what settings are assigned to which configuration set. Rather, the settings for every configuration set are displayed on your computer in easy-to-understand, plain English.

Built-in diagnostics on the firmware and PC software. Eliminates malfunctions by proactively predicting and correcting problems.

CUSTOMIZATION

Any professional paintball player understands the importance of properly tuned equipment; this becomes even more important when the same equipment is using different quality paints or feeding in different environmental conditions. Through the PC software, the user can assign different torque, speed, LED, sensor, and battery profiles for each playing condition. Practicing reball before playing in the dry, hot Phoenix sun? No problem. Set your configuration sets up on your PC and switch between them with a push of a button.

ENERGY OPTIMIZATION

The PC software allows the user to select which type of battery he or she is using and coordinate energy consumption accordingly. Furthermore, the PC software displays accurate, real-time matter metering. Have several batteries lying on your bag and want to test them? Just hook them up to your VICI device for a real-time battery reading.

Additionally, the player can customize power-down profiles. If you only play short games, set the value low to preserve power. If you’re a scenario player, disable or increase your power management settings to ensure the loader doesn’t unwittingly power down during the heat of the battle.

UPDATES

Through the software, you can flash your board on the file as software updates are released from HATER or EMPIRE. There is never a need to send your gun or loader in for updates; all software can be updated from home.
Software expandability suite coming soon!

EXPANSION MEMORY

Real time game and usage statistics stored on the device for analysis with VICI software updates.
Post game analysis capabilities.

FAST

32 bit architecture, nano-watt processor, and interrupt based technologies make the VICI Platform the fastest, most advanced paintball upgrade – ever.

IN THE BOX

All VICI marker boards come with a free, high-quality replacement button pad.
CD, manual, and USB cable included with all VICI products.

RAP4 Paintball Tactical Flashlight

RAP4 is proud to announce the Paintball Tactical Flashlight, a universal accessory that brings the power of light to your marker! The Paintball Tactical Flashlight works mounts to standard weaver rails on any paintball marker, including the accessory rail beneath the pistol and other paintball sidearms.
The Paintball Tactical Flashlight is made to the quality and durability standards demanded of tactical firearm accessories…meaning that each flashlight is tough enough for years of paintball abuse.
At only 5.6oz and under 2 inches long, the Paintball Tactical Flashlight is barely noticeable when mounted to your sidearm or primary marker. Flick the rear-mounted on/off switch or touch the whip-mounted pressure pad-which you can install on the forearm, grip, or anywhere else that feels right-and you’ll fill the bad guys’ world with blinding light.
Use the Paintball Tactical Flashlight to spotlight your opponents. When you light them up with the bright white beam, everyone on your team will be able to see them, shoot them, and make them run out of the game! Turn the light off in an instant, and disappear before it draws fire your way.
Use a quick burst of light aimed right at your opponents to destroy their ability to see in the dark. It takes the human eye several minutes to adjust to darkness…time that you can escape an awkward bunker or flank around them.
Detach the flashlight without tools, and use it to light your way back to camp, look for things inside your tent, or find the gear you dropped in the dark.
Technical Specifications:
Weight: 5.6 oz
Lumen: 120
Batteries:2x CR123
The RAP4 Paintball Tactical Flashlight is nearly identical to those used by SWAT teams and Special Forces around the world, giving you a dynamic new tool for night paintball…and a great light back at camp. When you need to get tactical, when you need to get real, you need to get Real Action Paintball-As Real as it Gets!
