PaintballX3 Magazine Staff Compiles, Records and Releases a Complete History of Paintball!
Occoquan, Virginia – January 28, 2010 – The staff of PaintballX3 Magazine has created the most complete, most thoroughly researched and authoritative history of the game, sport and industry of paintball, and made it available to the entire world at http://History.PaintballX3.com.
No longer will the history of paintball be confined to the memories of those who were there, many of whom are no longer active in paintball, and a few scattered articles or volumes not widely available to either the paintball world or the non-playing public. After years of exhausting research and diligent work by PaintballX3 President and Editor John Amodea with assistance from Associate Editor Joshua D. Silverman, paintball’s rich, diverse and fascinating history now has a home on the internet for the entire world to see, learn about and understand. For the first time, the actual, factual history of the game can now be considered a matter of record via History.PaintballX3.com.
“As a longtime student and sometime teacher of history, it always concerned me that the history of our amazing game, a rich and truly American success story like nothing else in the world, was not officially recorded, documented or even known by the vast majority of those involved with the game,” said PaintballX3’s Associate Editor, Joshua D. Silverman. Silverman continued:
"Look at any other serious sport that is respected in the rest of the world: from football to motocross, from basketball to ultimate fighting, the history of that sport is documented, a matter of record that anyone can find, research, learn and understand; this is critical to the worldwide acceptance of that sport or game as a serious entity. For years, paintball has just existed, always just ‘been there’ for people to take or leave as they please. Whether students trying to write papers on the game they love, parents trying to do research or major news media reporting on the game, there was nowhere to prove anything about where our sport came from, how long it’s been around, who created it and why, and what our concept for existing truly is. If lawmakers, those in the media or other officials wanted to portray us as militia, terrorist training or something else negative, we had no history to point to that we could use to refute those claims. Major real-world companies considering sponsoring, advertising in or investing in the game of paintball had no way to learn about or understand what paintball truly is. Now, the entire history of paintball can be researched, understood and respected, and hopefully this can lead to a wider understanding and public acceptance of our game as something real and positive, and our industry as one to be respected."
While the History.PaintballX3.com website is already packed with information on the story behind the creation and growth of the world of paintball, the entire concept remains a work-in-progress. Anyone who lived through the early days of paintball, whether as a player or member of the industry, is encouraged to contribute their knowledge to History.PaintballX3.com in order to add perspectives and information to the resource, and ensure its correctness. Rather than a printed volume, the History.PaintballX3.com website is intended to be an ever evolving, living history of the game, sport and industry we all love.
